American

How can you call yourself an American, if your skin is not red? You may be from the United States, in which case you are most likely of either essentially Caucasian (some mountains in Europe), African, Latin or Asian descent. New Yorker, San Franciscan, Californian, Westerner, Easterner - in English there's no good term for the collection. In Spanish it is 'estadounidense', which translates more or less as 'United Statesian'. 'Citizen of the United States of America' is probably accurate. Definitely not 'American'.

You might be from Canada, (Los Estados Unidos de) Mexico or anywhere from there until Tierra del Fuego - it's all 'America'.

When the language of politics is so flawed, how can anyone be expected to think for themselves and form a considered opinion? National identity fundamentally in error.
